About us

Bath Rugby Ladies was established in 2004 and has since made Lambridge its home base. Over the years, the team has grown in strength and reputation, showcasing both talent and perseverance. In the 2010-2011 season, the team came close to promotion to the Premiership, underscoring their competitive spirit and commitment to excellence.

In 2015, Bath Rugby Ladies expanded to include a seconds team, enhancing development opportunities within the club. The growth continued with the launch of a mixed-ability team in 2018, demonstrating the club’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. That same year, Bath Rugby Ladies secured the prestigious Webb Ellis Somerset Women's Cup at the iconic Rec stadium, a major milestone for the team.

In 2019, Bath Rugby Ladies celebrated an outstanding year, winning the Somerset County Cup and receiving the Female Team of the Year title at the Guinness National Rugby Awards. This recognition reflected the team’s success and positive impact on the sport. Furthermore, two players from the club were selected to represent Great Britain in Rugby League, marking another proud moment in Bath Rugby Ladies’ history.

Recognizing the club’s potential and dedication, Bath Rugby pledged in 2021 to support the Women’s and Girls' game. After a period of in-depth research, the club outlined a road map for the sport’s growth, spanning grassroots to elite levels. This initiative culminated in an application to the Allianz Premier 15s, with plans to establish a new women’s team in collaboration with Bath Rugby Ladies, forming part of Bath RFC's commitment to the future of women’s rugby.

In the 2022-2023 season, Bath Rugby Ladies 1XV triumphed in the Championship 1 League, highlighting the team’s continued success and dedication to reaching new heights.

Bath Rugby Ladies is also proud to celebrate its international athletes, including England stars Nicola Hoole, Marlie Packer, Natasha Hunt, and Izzy Noel-Smith, as well as Welsh internationals Caryl Thomas and Aimee Young, all of whom have earned full caps for their respective countries. Additionally, Nia Grundy who gained a Welsh 7s cap and Bethan Wakefield who was called up to the extended Wales Six Nations squad in 2022. The team has also proudly seen numerous players selected for Bath Rugby Women's 7s and various Premiership 15s teams.

With a legacy of achievements, strong partnerships, and a focus on inclusivity, Bath Rugby Ladies looks forward to an exciting future, inspiring the next generation of female rugby players.
